Dear All,
I know a lot of SIG's cover a lot of ground, but talking about it with a couple of others and bearing in mind that the Canberra is about to become 50 years old, and the interest in the subject, and models....
Any one considered starting a Canberra SIG...?
Could get some nice displays...
I do not have the time, but would be most interested in any responses to this question, and I know of at least one other...
Love to hear from you all....
Colin

That's a good idea Colin, if some one is wiling to pick up the baton; then you can count me in too! I think it would be too late to do anything this year for the 60th anniversary, from a getting space at Tellford point of vew, but if we do get a SIG going then 2011 would be a good target for the 60th anniversary of the Canberra's entry in to service.

I could be interested here. I think 2011 would be a better target.

Well if no one is wiling to pick up the baton then I my just have too! But we still need to know if there are enough people out there who would be interested in a Canberra SIG? I agree Oliver 2011 would be a lot more realistic as a target date, it's a very big subject to cover!

It would make a very impressive subject to cover i agree. But look at what the F4 display last year and others have done.

HI Oliver
I think it would be as big if not a bigger subject than the Phantom, if you think of all the Mk.'s all the UK and foreign users plus the American Mk.'s and Sqn.'s you're looking at a lot of models and so far it's only been me you and Colin, I have about 30 Canberra's built, but that would only scratch the surface! We need more help/interest!

Gents, Please count me in if the sig takes off ( I know, sad pun ) I spent 4 years on 231 OCU/100 sqdn at Marham in the seventies, so I shouldn't need an excuse to build one, but I've not got round to it yet, even though there's a couple in the stash ! ;D Cheers Dave

Hi Dave Well that's 3 of us, by my math's that just 2 more and we've cracked it! Sad puns are fine by me. 231 OCU and 100 Sqn, good mix I'm a big fan of both. John

Count me in for the American connection - I'm afraid I'm one of those Brit "heretics" who think that the tandem-seat B-57 is a much nicer looking aeroplane (or should that be "airplane" ) than the "goldfish-bowl-canopy" versions. (Ducks for cover ...)

WOW! Coming thick and fast now, Just one more and it looks like I'll have run out of excuses. Good to have you on board Michael, you're not alone in thinking that about the B.57, despite my best efforts to educate him, my son thinks the same! On some dark days when my defaces are down I some times have these feelings too, but a quick look at a 100 Sqn PR.7 and I'm back to normal ;D
