Hi all , I am working on a new base for a railway scene in 1/35 . I decided to rebuild the dragon embankment with one of my own . The rails and sleepers are completed , but I needed to build the embankment and make it look like tamped earth. So I came up with the following which is drying at the moment so when ready I will take a photo . The method is to save you old used tea bags and dry out . Then add the dried tea to pollyfiller or in my case plaster of paris . I used 50-50 to which I added water in the normal way . Hey presto a rough ground texture . I will try adding more tea leaves and see what the difference is on the second half . cheers ian

Hi all up early this morning for a cup of tea, I tried a combination of 75% tea leaves to plaster of paris and it works great for me , It is drying as I type so when I get time later on I will take a photo and you can I hope see the difference between the ratios cheers ian

Hi all , this is the comparision photo . on the left is the 50-50 mixture and on the right the 75-25 , ignore the white plastic this is to determine the height of the base for the embankment. I will cover all the sleepers in clig film and glue them to the white plastic . Then infill the space between them with the 75-25 mixture . It gives a very rough texture . cheers ian

Hi Ian, Looks like a good combination of tea leaves & plaster. I use ground up 'Spill dry' which is a granual mix we use at work for all sorts of 'spills'. (Similiar to cat litter) mixed with diluted PVA glue. Mark

Hi all it is now completed and drying of , in the end I used three layers of tea and plaster , but each layer was a different ratio , the top layer I eneded up using 75% tea to plaster . All I need to do is touch up the paint on the rails and add a section of grass . Photo when dry cheers ian
