Hi All,
Any Facebook users out there might like to know that we now have an official IPMS (UK) page up. You can find us by searching "IPMS (UK)" on Facebook.
Cheers,
Rob M.

We can do better than that Rob, here's the link www.facebook.com/?sk=2361831622#!/group.php?gid=154243277932214 I've left it open to all users so it's not just for IPMS members.

Steve, That's correct. You have to be a Facebook member before you can access Facebook.
I know a lot of people are wary of Facebook (count me as one of those), but with a bit of care you can lock down you personal data so it can't be viewed by anyone other than those you want to see it.
You don't have to make anyone a 'friend' if you don't wish to and can still apply to join 'groups' (such as the IPMS page). I've been using FB for just over a year now have yet to make anyone a 'friend' (or ask to become a 'friend' to anyone else). It hasn't stopped me taking a full part in the IPMS facebook page (or indeed a couple of local model club 'groups').
I appreciate FB isn't for everyone but getting involved in a group is probably one of the best ways to dip your toe in the water. There has been a definite shift in the past 2-3 years with the manufacturers increasingly concentrating their publicity through FB and it is likely to develop into one of the primary online routes to learn about the industry and the hobby.
Regards, John

For some reason I don't seem to be able to access IPMS (UK)'s Facebook page. Only a short time ago, I used to be able to view the content as a Facebook member but not any more. Searching for the group via Facebook fails to bring it up at all. Why would this happen?

Dave,
Due to the number of spurious posts and dodgy requests to join from people who clearly had no interest in the hobby, we've taken the decision to operate the IPMS Facebook page as a 'closed' group. You therefore need to join the group in order to view the content. The page still exists and I'm unsure why you can't find it on FB (I assume you have a FB account)?
We've also just started an IPMS Members Lounge FB group. You need to be a current IPMS member for that one (again, it's a closed group and you'll need to provide your IPMS membership number to the admins before they let you join) and it is primarily to discuss IPMS business rather than general modelling chat.
Regards, John

Hi John, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do have a Facebook account. I noticed a little while back that it was a "closed" group after previously being able to access it freely so I clicked the "join" button. Since then I've not been able to locate it. When searching for IPMS (UK), I just get diverted to other open IPMS sites. Have I been locked out as "dodgy" perhaps.....................? Understandable maybe but still..................... Dave

Thanks for the link John but still no luck. Just get a message box saying: "This content is currently unavailable". Thanks for trying. I'll get in touch with Nick direct.
Kind regards Dave
