Hi there This wee dio was inspired by my own excursion into a ditch as co-driver of a Bedford MK on Exercise Scottish Rover a good few years back. 30 seconds of terror getting in the ditch,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,5 hours backbreaking work getting out!!!!! Scratch built body work was added to the Airfix kits from the airfield recovery set and the Scammell tank transporter. Curious cows investigate what is going on (according to the driver the reason he landed in the ditch at night. Recovery crew sets about laying out the kit to start the recovery Gear stowed in the bin normally used for storing the snow chains or the track sets that could be added to the rear drive wheels for better x-country capability. Probably not thought so necessary on a flat airfield or road network by the RAF I think it is safe to say his load has shifted. Chassis for Scammellwas shortened slightly I need to try and source 1/72 scale RAF decals for the trucks. I don't know how the experts get such fine detail onto their braile scale vehicles and dios, but this was fun for my level of expertice and I enjoyed the quick build in this size. Hope you like Nige :-H :-H :-H :-H

Hi Nigel, great work, I know how tricky it is working with these small, old kits and think you have done an excellent job! Are you working on anything at the moment?
Cheers

Hi there Kashleymor
Got a few 1/72 RAF trucks built but not really finished as I haven't sourced any good decal sets for them as yet. Will get round to posting a few more pics of these at some point, but I am struggling to remember the truck type for one that started life as a Lineside chassis kit and I have lost the packaging that had the name of the truck. I will have to look through my reference book for the picture I based the bodywork on to get the type.
I have a few of the modern Bedford MK and Landrover kits by JB Models that are waiting for build time but I am kinda stuck for space having the the 1/24 scratchbuilds on the go - DAF DROPS, a Bedford MK and TM to start as parallel builds. A Leyland Olympian Bus scratchbuild in 1/24 that stalled a while ago and a 1/32 skip lorry.
Lots of shed insulation (kits I want to get round to aswell) if I can pull my finger out.
What are you working on right now?
Nige
