I have recently found a SWEET models 1 144 scale pair of Mitsubishi Zeroes, and they were excellent for the size, but I do not know who imports their kits to the UK ( their website is all in Japanese ) does anyone know?

I know that there is a few sellers on ebay that do them. Really odd cartoon packaging but superb little models. Some kits have two aircraft per box. There is also a, I think, Hellcat kit with a card carrier deck section and a deck crew which are cats (I kid you not). I have never built one but I know people what have and they loved them.

yes, these are really nice little miniatures, and there is quite a range of them. The Sea King is one of the nicest representations of the type in ANY scale in my opinion.
The feline deck crews have put some off, but the kits and decals themselves are top notch.
Easiest place to check out the range is Hobby Link Japan, and I'm sure that I've seen them on sale on Hannants stand at airshows. Cheers Paul

Hi James I don't think there is an official importer of Sweet kits in the UK but you can usually pick up the odd one or two at shows etc. HLJ is usually a decent source for these kits. I have a few of the Zero, Hurricane and Wildcat kits to do but I currently like the Sea King. At this scale you can make some nice variations of the basic kit without too much effort. I've posted a few of my conversions below cheers Mike The basic kit HAS.2 (with the door opened)Mk4 versionHAS.5 with blades folded and engine hatches openedASaC 7 with modified air filters

I have to agree that some of these kits are lovely... I have a number including the Wildcat (not Hellcat) complete with cat crew - yeah, Sweet! I buy them even though they're not my usual area of interest...
Must admit though that, although I've always heard good things about the Sea Kings, I've managed to talk myself out of buying one whenever I've seen them. The panel lines appear rather trench-like, particularly for the scale. Can anyone reassure me that my impressions are wrong?

On my zeroes, the panel lines were only just visible, as they were very well done to the scale, but it did look as if they didn't exist once they were painted. i guess its a fine line between authenticity and looking good.

I bet none of U knew that the 1/144 scale planes fit in well for N scale railways, Kerin and I both dabble into this format and we enjoy the break from our other hobbies. The Cessna's & helicopters fit in well at the village which nestles on the edge of woods at one end of the layout and the airfield looks terrific. Dingo
