As a newcomer to afv modelling, my natural habitat is with aircraft, I find I'm having a bit of a trouble with the terminology! I don't know my copula from my drive sprocket! Can anyone recommend a book that would help me understand the lingo?

'Phew'. Hi Derek. Well glad you have found your sprocket, would be tragic if you bounced off the glacis plate and hit the cupola. You would however be on top . That site of Nicks showing, is a very good insite to the terminoligy of the tracky thing that makes so much noise. Great to see another convert to Armour.

Is the cupola just a ring of periscopes to give the commander 360 degree vision when 'buttoned up' or is there more to it?

Hi Derek. Thats one thing the cupola is for. There were many different types of cupola for diff tanks. If you browse a bit you will see, for Instance some books will help. The main reason for the Cupola to start with was for access to and from the tank, and for commander to see better. Most early tanks had one cupola but as the war progressed and better Idea's and tanks came along more than one cupola was added to turrets and main body. Google abit and you will see what i mean. Good luck in your efforts.
