Hi all , this is a long shot , I am reviewing a book on the Czech Independant Armoured Brigade Group .Two photos in the book stand out one is a photo of Moreton Hall covered in ivy and the second shows two bren carries in the snow on what looks like the New Brighton front near to the fair ground. In the distance it looks like New Brighton Pier. Since I have not lived on the Wiral for 40+ years I would like to know if the hall is still standing . I looked on Google maps but nothing showed up. cheers ian

Moreton Hall is in Warwickshire, not far from Leamington Spa, which was the HQ of the Czechoslovak Free Army during the war. It was here that the Heydrich assasination was planned. The house, which was the subject of a fire a few years ago, but only partially rebuilt, is now part of a Warwickshire College agricultural centre, in the village of Moreton Morrell. More info: Charles Tuller Garland was an American citizen who later served with the British Army in the Great War and was owner of Moreton Hall in Warwickshire (now part of Mid-Warwickshire College). Moreton Hall is a listed Georgian-styled Edwardian mansion built in the early 1900s.
Garland, founder of the National City Bank in New York, USA, died in 1921 and the Moreton Hall estate was purchased by Lieutenant-Colonel Robert James Leslie Ogilby DSO JP DL (1880-1964).
