I started 2008 with too many projects started, but nearly there now. That means time to start looking for the next project. Vulcan? IL-76? Lincoln? Nimrod? Dad-1

Geoff,
acclamation - seems you are going to beat me to the Valiant.
I am still fighting the ICM Do 215 which is comparable to a Mach2 if not in size but in fit problems !
good modeling,
Rolf

Hi Rolf, did you find your way into the Britmodeller forum? Pictures of the Valiant there - almost complete, up to the painting stage. I spent yesterday afternoon & evening re-writing pixel by pixel the code XD815 in pale blue, converting a scan of the Mach2 black XD818. Got the 90 squadron pennant on file and the very small squadron crest so I'm waiting for slightly warmer and less windy conditions to spray out in the garden, so shouldn't be long now.

Hello Geoff,
Britmodeller - no, not yet as I spent too much time already on the Do 215 and still have some backlog of paperwork to catch up. But I shall register on the weekend at the latest !
Anxious to see your progress in detail !
More later and good modeling and good weather.....

Now if that isn't a motivation - Applaus aus der Schweiz !
Fearing the backlog of paperwork will persist a little bit longer...

Rolf, I thought you would find my method of intake & exhaust mod useful. The 4 mm aluminum spar helps in getting a 0 degree dihedral on the wing platform. It's warmer today so I hope to get the final undercoat on .... final unless some other minor filling defect appears! Geoff.

Geoff,
thanks for that pic - good idea and practice.
I think I shall fit my usual "spar construction" - Evergreen or aluminum tubing telescoping at least 2 tubes, behind the intakes and between wheel wells and exhaust tubes.
This worked quite well on the Victor - allowed me to slide the wings on from both sides and made a good support.

The Valiant painting went wrong and I had to strip the canopy back to plastic before re-painting with a compatable paint. It's now having it's final check and paint adding. The Victor has been waiting all winter for warmer dryer air to spray in the garage & outside. The La-9 refers to the 'It arrived today' thread and is now nearing completion - just got to wait for hand painted Humbrol to dry before each stage. So this is how it hangs tonight!! Dad-1

Not having made airplanes for a long time,;only having two in my collection. I applaud those here, and in our group who make so good representations of the actual thing in model form. This will always be a subject that captivates most what ever scale. Power to your elbow and good luck on the finished article.

Not far to go now - the Mach2 version 1 in camouflage by the current Mach2 version 2. The home produced decals are thick and I'm not entirely happy, but as there are no commercial Anti-Flash serials available they'll have to do. The wing tanks only plug fitted as not fully painted and the gear doors to go on, plus the 90 Sqn fin marking. Then a few odd little decals and some weathering particularly under the engine bays. Not an easy kit, but for the 'V' bomber enthusiast the most acceptable option. Dad-1

Just a query Dad-1, but do you intend to finish the Victor B1 as a Radar Recce Flt aircraft or as a standard V-Force machine ?.

To make my life easy ...... or should I just say easier I'm making this B1A .... with the little ventral glycol pack, as a Honnington Wing machine No.55/57 Sqns which requires no special markings just the generic roundels and warning stencils. Finish green & grey over white, the various paints used on the top so far have been fault finding primers. I had a can of Medium Sea Grey mixed up by Halfords so I'll spray Halfords white underneath, MSG over the top and hand paint the green - I don't use an airbrush.
The inkjet decal printing has limitations and the colour depth is not enough for a camouflage finish and as I have a white B1 and white B2 I needed a camouflage one to more or less complete the bomber set.
