Hi to all,
My name is Ian I am 54yrs old and have been a plastic modeller since around 7yrs old and was eventually modelling to quite a high standard up to the age of 19/20 when I joined the Police Force and sport became my main leisure time activity... On and off over the years I have returned to modelling, usually in times of illness recovery etc and dabbled for a few weeks each time with kits I had from way back, I have a Monogram 1/48 scale B29 Superfortress which has been in construction for about 30+ years and has been broken and repaired so many times I've lost count, but I will complete it one day!
I retired from the Police back in 2008 and now do part time as a Security Consultant in the Banking Sector and the rest of my time is now shared between photography, which was my other great love as a youngster and which is what I studied to be before and which led to my joining the Police Force. Back in 2008 I purchased some of Airfix's newer aircraft kits (Vulcan, Valiant and Nimrod) and re-purchased some older ones (1/24 Spitfire Mk1a) intending to take up the hobby again. So here I am recovering from an operation on my shoulder and have once again turned to the hobby for convalescence but feel more able to stick with it for the duration this time, so have taken the plunge and will be buying new equipment brushes, tools etc and an Air Brush which is something I have never tried.
Despite the fact that I have lost some dexterity in the hands over the years and the eyesight is definitely not what it was I feel quite comfortable and eager to learn new skills. If there is anything going on local in or around Staffordshire please don't hesitate to let me know.
Regards to all I look forward to conversing with you.
