Just back from Meadowhall Sheffield saw the advert for the inclusion of Modelzone in store at WH Smith asked member of staff, he said the stock was in store and they hoped to have it up and running by next week.

I'm not sure it will work, perhaps I'm too pessimistic but WHS itself hasn't been doing that well, from their peak some 20 years ago with an associated DIY chain etc. Locally to me the WHS at Speke retail Park halved in size to give 50% of it's floor space to Carphone. While diversifying like this sounds like a good idea it sounds like the very old Woolworths business model of sell everything, which eventually brought down that business. Add to that ill informed staff & probably mainstream products I don't see I'll be adding WHS to my list of visited shops.

I agree with Nick (No political pun intended) When Modelzone went to the wall the thing that concerned me most with the loss of this particular high street retailer was how was it going to affect companies such as Airfix and Revell. The loss of a major outlet for these manufactures must have sent eruptions through the respective boardrooms. Yes we can buy on line or the various model shows but I for one still prefer the model shop experience. Few of us actually Run short of kits it's when we run out of paint, glue, plastic card etc etc we need an outlet, Modelzone filled this gap, if WHS carry a fair range of support products that can't be a bad thing can it.
