Is your Branch preparing for a model show, have you informed the Magazine Editor or the Webmaster about your event?
If not, then you're relying on simply advertising your event locally and you're not getting the coverage your event deserves. However, simply posting your event here on the forum does not mean that it will automatically appear in the magazine. I look in here every day, sometimes several time per day (when possible) and will pass on any information posted here and also update the diary on the web site: www.ipms-uk.co.uk/events.htm but the best way to get your event advertised is to contact the editor: firstname.lastname@example.org who will place your event in the society magazine, but please don't forget the magazine copy deadlines: www.ipms-uk.co.uk/newsite_magazine.htm the earlier you notify the editor of the event, the more chance you'll have of getting the event publicised in the magazine, and don't forget to copy the info to me: email@example.com
Submissions for the diary should include date, venue and a brief description of what's to be seen, oh, and please don't forget the post code if known.
I've just read the diary section in the new edition of the mag and there are a couple of events not advertised, yet we have them on the web site. But why is this? ... are JT and his team not doing their job? ... the answer is that we're not being informed of events!
Not so long ago, I had an email from a rather disgruntled modeller that his local event had not been advertised either in the magazine or here on the forum, and he was none too pleased about it and was looking for someone to blame. Well it turns out that everyone in the branch had assumed that someone had taken the time to inform either JT or myself, but they hadn't. Never assume anything, if you want your event avertised, we need to have it as far in advance as possible, please remember that the magazine editor requires more time than me to slot items into the diary, at least two months notice, remember that the magazine has a publication deadline for submission. Have a look at the magazine section on the web site: www.ipms-uk.co.uk/newsite_magazine.htm it carries all the publication dates for 6 issues in advance. I usually trawl the tables at shows for diary information, not just IPMS shows but local model shows, but please don't rely on me doing that, I can't get to all the shows.
So come on, get the information to JT and myself, it's your show which may not appear in the mag!
