Finished this a couple of weeks ago, but I've only just got round to uploading the usual workbench photos. It's Hobby Boss's Me 262 A-1a/U3, those bulges on the nose covering a pair of cameras in the former gun bay. Most of these aircraft were unarmed, although some carried a single centrally-mounted MK 108.
It's not a bad kit, and streets ahead of the old Monogram offering in terms of detail and fit. The nosewheel bay is supplied as a metal part, and is sufficient in itself to prevent tailsitting. However, I did omit a bunch of detail from inside the rear fuselage, as I modelled the avionics bay(?) hatch shut, so said detail would not be visible. The gun/camera bay is designed to be shown open if desired, and there are a couple of cameras provided, but again I modelled mine shut. The fit, although not perfect, was better than many kits with open panels. The only real quibbles are: the MK 108 is included, and my subject, one of the kit decal options, did not carry it, in fact few a/c did. There are also a pair of spurious gun ports under the nose, I have found no evidence to back up their presence. It was the work of a few minutes and a bit of filler to correct these. The undercarriage is also depicted "unloaded" which gave the aircraft a distinctly tip-toed appearance, so I removed a bit of each oleo and re-fixed each leg with a metal pin. The only aftermarket was an Eduard seat harness.
I finished mine in markings of 1./NAGr.1 at Herzogenaurach around December 1944. Colours are a mottle of 82/83, with undersides in a mixture of 76 (under nose and engine nacelles) and unpainted bare metal. Thanks to Goran Larsson and Rolf Blattner for colour advice.
Thanks for looking.
