Am about to have a stab at heat shrink tubing - got the tube but need a gun. I've looked on eBay, but really need some advice on which type I should go for. Can anyone advise please?

Hi You can use whatever you have to hand really. I've even used a candle before now. A hair drier on hot, a hobbiest hot air gun (used for embossing powder), or in extremis a paint stripping gun(!) but the basics still apply. BE VERY CAREFUL with what else is in the surrounding area, DON'T burn yourself, or the place down! With the air guns of whatever type, don't forget that the air stream will also blow everything else away if left in the way. I would also strongly recommend testing on a scrap piece first with whatever you end up with. Whatever you use inside the heat shrink needs to survive the heat applied but also not conduct the heat too much either - practice!
If I was to suggest a first port of call probably the hair drier to see if the one you have is strong/hot enough and then the embossing powder hot air gun - not the cheapest solution and they do get very hot.
Be careful Rich
