Paul Regan's recent comments in his regular society magazine column about club and special interest groups breaking down their displays before official show ending times made interesting reading. Even if things start to get a bit quiet later in the day, if the public are paying to get in the displays should stay put up until official closing time. Venue and table hire are gradually getting more expensive making putting on shows for smaller clubs start to become less viable long term.
For example of a visitor pays to see a local show for a couple of hours in the afternoon expecting to have a look around from 2 until 4 when most shows officially close, they would rightfully be annoyed having parted with an entrance fee to see displays being broken down from 3 onwards. There is a tendency for this aspect to be over looked by a number of exhibitors, and if paying visitors experience this practice they do not come back to future shows.
I do not think that any club or sig sets out to intentionally disrespect the show organisers or the public but simply forget their obligation to the show when things inevitably get quiet later on in the day.
