Hi The aircraft employed on gust research were PR34s delivered straight from the RAF. Chances are that they were never repainted and were in the standard finish of the day. The aircraft were modified. I found details here: nsdl.org/resource/2200/20061003060352183TIt takes a while to open but it's an interesting read. Regards, Alfie

According to the PSL book, both gust-research Mosquitoes were silver overall. There are photos, in Stuart Howe's book, of both a/c at Marshall's after their return. Patience

I've been sent a couple of scans of G-AJZE photographs. If you'd let me know your email adress via the PM facility, I'll forward them on to you.

Hi
I've been sorting out the Library at work and have come across Mosquito Classic Aircraft No 7: Their history and how to model them by Bowyer & Philpott. Page 110 has a side profile that states the aircraft were silver dope overall with the registration in maroon/dull red. The aircraft also had the BEA 'Flying Key' badge (red on a white disc) on the fin and port side front fuselage just below the cockpit. The aircraft was also fitted with 3 additional aerials. Page 116 has a B/W photograph of the aircraft parked outside a hangar. The text also describes how the author built G-AJZE from the Airfix 1/72 scale kit.

A bit late for this thread but, I'm producing a model of one of BEA's Mosquitoes, the colour scheme is described in Flight for 15th July 1948 as 'resplendent in the grey and red BEA colours' (see flightglobal.com - archive), which is also how it's described on Page 377 of Ian Thirsk's Mosquito - An Illustrated History Vol.2 (2006).
