any one know where to get the replacement blades you use in craft knives, y'know the on that go in a slit in the handle and you tighten a collar to grip the blades, you can buy full sets of handles and blades but no one sells the blades independently

How do mate, Sounds like you have the same type of knife i do. I get my replacement blades from Hobby Craft, they come in a clear plastic tube with 5 blades, about £2 a time I think Also give Model Zone a try if you have one near. If you have a branch of Jowett & Sowery Stationers near you I've seen them in there too, the one in Leeds has them Cheers, Steve

Xacto is the brand to look for. Always an idea to take the handle with you as they do more than one shank size.

As the former Manager of that shop in Leeds they don't open Sundays because it just is not financially viable to do so. You ahve to have at least three staff on and pay them. I recall being open one Sunday and taking £15.99 all day. Hordes of Modellers I did not see!

There's a lookalike brand too, called Excel. Their blades fit Xacto handles and come in the same sizes.
Cheers

I used to use those then invested in a couple of scalpel handles. Blades of various sizes available all over. Swann Morton is it off the top of my head?

Swann Morton are great quality blades but the only drawback with them is you have to get the right blade number to fit the handle you have. You also have to be very careful when removing the old blades.
I bought some saw blades a little while ago to fit the swann moreton handle I have to find that they dont fit at all - nearly lost a finger trying to make them fit - pig headed I know. Anyway - upshot is I am sticking with my swann morton blades and handles but buying the cheaper twist lock handle for the saw blades.

Karlos
I know exactly what you mean - the only reason I go into Starbucks is so that I can grab as many of their wooden stirrers as possible.
Perhaps we should start the Cheap as Chips SIG - no modelling tool used cost more than £3 - lol
