I have a fairly old Rareplanes U2C, basically built but not painted. Does anyone know of a set of decals for a 'classic' all black U2C? I fancy something fairly simple just to finally finish the job off and half natural metal rear fuselages or all natural metal doesn't appeal!
Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks
Simon

Just find any set of US serials with 45 degree corners in the appropriate height and shade of red; paint the model overall black, apply serial to tail, and voila, classic U-2. If you're at Telford my Testors example in that scheme will be on the Recce SIG stand. Alternatively, how about the disruptive camouflage in two greys that some wore for a detachment to the UK - can't remember when, I'll try and remember to lookk it up tonight.

Hi Simon, Meteor do a lot of decals (and resin parts) for the U-2. One example, including the scheme MikeC mentioned... Cheers, Haydn.

That's the scheme. I believe it was a detachment to Wethersfield.

That's the scheme. I believe it was a detachment to Wethersfield. Two tone grey scheme was used by the 100th SRW when deployed to RAF Weathsfield in the summer of 1975 to test the Advanced Location Strike System (ALSS) The ALSS was housed in the Qbay which resulted in the lower section being bulged. They were painted grey because the UK goverment objected to them been painted black.

The blue one is not a C and you would have to so some heavy duty mods to make it so.
Beter to start with an A. I might have the decals for C if your still looking.
It was not that the UK Govt objected to them being black they thought if they were camo they could tell Joe public they were not spy planes!

N809X was a C.I.A. U-2C with the long spine in Dark Blue.
