I did a 1/48 Recce version last year and the only external difference is, as you say the bulges as well as the two windows under the nose for the cameras.
Also becaue the cameras are placed where the guns would normally go the gun ports are filled in. There are also versions which have a tube protruding from the nose, some say this is for a cannon, others think its some kind of cooling vent - your guess is as good as mine.
If you want some reference, the Osprey book on modelling the 262 shows a recce bersion being built, also aufklarer vol2 has some good photo's.
Is there a conversion available for 1/32?

Hi Roger & Paul, Regarding the tube seen on the nose of some recce 262s, according to the documents that I have here it is a blast tube for the proposed installation of a single MK 108 cannon. As to whether or not the cannon was ever fitted, to date I have found no confirmed information in German records that it was. Another area to watch out for is the length of the fairings that covered the film magazines on the doors. If you look at the many photos published of White 3 (the one being towed by a Kettenkrad) you will see that its fairings are shorter than those fitted to White 33 and others in that the forward edge of the fairing does not extend past the forward edge of the door. Mind you, if you want to avoid the hassle of scratching the fairings etc, you could always leave the gun nose on and paint it up as White 34 of NAGr.6 which had had the camera nose taken off and replaced with the gun one. Also, this aircraft only partial camo on the tops of the wing leading edges and no national markings on the upper wing surfaces (see the photos on p.6 of Aufklärer 2). Mind you however, it would be nice if someone produced a proper recce conversion for the Trumpeter 262. Cheers Dave

since the last postings I have some more infomation, including a nice cutaway of 262 with all the options including reece fit. the small tube protruding from the nose is in fact a mk108 cannon- a small number of interrim recce versions were produced and operated with the cannon mounted in the extreme nose section.- I have a photo given to me by our club chairman, but I can,t remenber what book it came from also I have spoken to the guys at MDC and they tell me that a 1/32 reecce conversion is in the pipeline. having just bought the bomber nose conversion it will be well worth waiting for
