Hi Colin,
Hello again sorry I haven't been on the site for a while, pressure of work and re-decorating the house etc...
Anyhow, I thought I would let you know that I will be going to SMW 08 this year, I will be there am on the Saturday and most of the day Sunday, if you need a hand with the table.
I haven't been very prolific with the kit builds this yera but I should have 2, 1/72nd Islander /Defenders in Recce guise. One is the AEW, version in the Grey colour scheme and the other is an Islander 4000 as used in Iraq on convoy route screening and Recce.
Will you be using the Connie EC121-T , PB-1W and TBM-3W Avenger again ? Would you like me to pick them up from you before November and bring them along with me? And would you like the AEW Neptune on the table again?
I have also been busy researching all things AEW for a Brazilian author chap Sergio Santana, who is writing a book (in Portugese ) on the history of AEW Aircraft. One thing that we need is the Radar/ Avionics and radio fit specs of the Shackleton AEW, I know that the radar was the APNS/20 removed fron the RN Gannetts but that is about it. If there is anyone out there who can help with the specs I would appreciate any gen.
Regards for now
Ian Shaw

Colin
For your list...
Bf 109E5 (trop) - complete HS 126 (Desert) - complete Lysander (No 2 Sqn) - complete 1/32 Storch (Winter) - complete
I hope to get the Bf 110E done by november as I have the window configuration and the lovely Eduard kit but have had my head turned by a 1/48 P-47N I picked up cheaply. My first US aircraft and a first for natural metal finish. I did look but there are no documented versions of the P-47N configured for recce.
Ill bung a few phots in the Airceaft section for anyone interested as i am using the vallejo metallic acryllics - looks ok so far.
Back to the list - any others you are expecting that I have missed?

Sorry Everybody....
Been kinda busy recent months with all the other bits of my life, and there seems to be more and more by the week..........
Have not been doing justice, to keeping in contact, and up to date with events.
Will try to rectify that soon, after all it's only a couple of months away....
I know that there is no way I am going to be able to finish most of the models I was hoping to, so will try to get the list up to date as far as possible and we can take it from there.

Dear all, It is starting to get closer and we must start moving towards finalising the list and finding out whether it is all going to fit on the tables we have... The table plans are now available on the IPMS(UK) web site and we have 'tables' 207 and 206, although this actually translates into a grand collection of 8 tables making one big display area on the subject of Reconnaissance, jointly with Avon Branch. Any thoughts about what we should 'name' our display? ? The list of models I am going to try and update this weekend, so if you could have a look and email me or post about correctness of what I have. On other thing regards trying to make a table plan. If you could let me know rough dimensions of wingspan/length of your models, so we can have a go at making a rough plan to see if it all fits. We will more than likely be printing labels for all the models centrally, so need to know what you want on your labels, but more of that nearer the time. Any other thoughts about this years SMW Colin

Hello Colin, dear All.
Due to family matters I shall have to cancel attending SMW 08.
Annoying to say the least, especially as I would have loved to get to know the Avon gang and see the combined Recce display in the flesh - aside from meeting you all again - or for the first time.
Wish you all a jolly good time and a successful display - take some pics for me, will you? Keeping fingers crossed for 09.
Colin; pm to follow.
Cheers, Rolf

Cheers Rolf, See PM, but I think I can speak for quite a few of us...... Going to miss the Swiss contingent of the 'Recce SIG' this year..... Hopes for the future. I am sure the chaps will put on a good display. And rest assured we will take photos/videos, and send to you, just to make you realise what you missed... Sorry, but at least I shall see you in Switzerland next year, any body else hoping to go to Zurich in 2009? Colin
