This weekend myself, Fatty, Nick and Ian were exhibiting at the Nottingham Model Railway Show and walking around looking at the displays I felt the urge to fall to the dark side and join in. Unfortunately South Eastern Finecast were there and they had lots of train kits shouting buy me, buy me. I succumbed and brought the Great Western Railway's 9400 Tank train:
I went back to our stand but as Fatty, Nick and Ian were building railway models I would fit right in and proceeded to start on the model. I then find out you do not get wheels with the kit and went back to Finecast to get the wheels, again I kept hearing "buy me, buy me" and thought the train needed a wagon in tow and I brought two. The GWR shunter's wagon and A.P.O.C tank wagon ;D (forgot to picture them).
I have decided to do my very first diorama so I do not know how well this will come out but I had already got a base that I was going to display some motorbikes on and will now use it for the diorama. I also picked up a GWR engine shed which was although I did not know time was designed for the tank train, so that was a good choice:
So far I have started to build the train but there is a lot of preparation work required to get all the white metal parts to fit together properly and there are a lot of rivets missing so progress is slow:
Also started building the shed, but have decided to scratch build the guttering and down pipes as the one's with the kit are not very good. Also have decided to go with two tracks to fill the base better, a main line and side line with the shed:
Thats all for now
