Steady chaps. For a start you are on the wrong side of the Wolds to be the capital of anything but a column.

Of Course, Bishop Wilton sounds like a capital and it has three main streets which is more than Malton can claim.
The cab is correct for the Mack I have in mind but there are still many details to sort out. I have no idea about the chasis other than the axle configuration and also is there a source for Mack Thermodyne engines or will I need to build that as well?

Currently I am building a Hewland LG500 gearbox for a Lola T70 but I am being naughty!
Respecting the intent of your question I am just sizing a truck for old time sake at the moment. Years ago I drove a Mack F sleeper with a 12 metre trailer moving mostly antique furniture for a friend of mine whilst I was a student. I just happened to mention this to Chris a while ago and you can guess the rest.

Thanks Ted. It was new in New Zealand in 1974 and was an F type sleeper COE 6x4 tractor unit. At least I think both rear axles were driven from what I remember. It was powered by a Thermodyne engine of about 300 hp I think. Is that enough to go on?

Now then chaps,
Nick, Thanks for the KFS ref. I have already sized up his catalogue and he lists an F type Mack Sleeper but it is out of stock currently, phew! Does Howards kit make any suggestions regarding chasis as there is nothing showinng with the kit?
Ted, Thank you. That spec sheet looks very much like my memeory thinks it should, except for the cab of course. I will pm you with contact details shortly.
Chris, If this is trouble lifes not so bad. Certainly much better than last year!

Does Howard's kit make any suggestions regarding chassis as there is nothing showing with the kit? Francis, The kit Howard featured in his latest advert on the rear page of TMW issue 132, December 2007, is TQ-46A, Mack F' day cab. It's not cheap @ £75 but you get excellent quality for your money. There are 26 resin parts, 23 white metal parts, 39 chrome photo etch parts, clear items and decals. It's a transkit, which means you will require a donor kit for the running gear, but you'll have to contact Howard to find out which chassis he prefers.

Thanks Nick,
I will contact Howard for chasis details and info about sleeper cab. I have seen built up KFS models and agree about the quality of his mouldings. 75 notes is not crazy money for the hours of pleasure a good kit delivers.

Francis,
A bit of further research. Chassis required is any of the current American offerings, the Revell / Italeri - Peterbilt, Western Star and Ford chassis are generic offerings.
