I spent ages and ages polishing out the primer as I really wanted this one to be a bit special. I ended up with an absolutely pristine primer finish right down to 12000 grade Micromesh. Shiny was the word. Cleaned it up let it dry and sprayed it with a couple of good coats of Zero Nissan Cherry Red. AS the basecoat dried I began to notice a strange effect. where there had been badges moulded on the original plastic their outlines appeared through the paint. They were NOT visible before I applied the Basecoat. Now I'm going to have to sand them back and probably refill and prime. Has anyone seen this effect before? Comments, suggestions and plain old help accepted. H

Got another coat of base colour on it over the resanded areas. You can still see the surface imperfections so I'll just repeat the process again. The Bonnet will be Gloss Black and the stripes will be decal. H

Looks like the paint was too hot for the filler under the primer. I had to sand back and refill then prime up again. Seems to be sorted now.
First clear coat on tomorrow will be make or break I think.

Here's a picture of the model as per the start of tonight. I cleared it a few days ago and polished it out Saturday night. Decals were added Sunday and in my impatience I sort of fluffed them so had to modify the scheme late on. Needs a good wash to remove the decal solution residue and then another clear coat before the detail paint work and bits and bobs can be added. H

Finally finished it. Had a few fingerprint issues which I've resolved today and the poor fit of the glazings is evident in the gap on the A posts. Hope you like. H
