Well I wasnt planning on starting any more builds this week, but i did as I couldnt wait any longer to try out my compressor...... So here is a 1/25 scale AMT Ertel 1965 Pontiac 2+2. I will consist of a blue - red flip paint job, chrome 20" rims, and a detailed engine. The paint I was nervous about using, reason one was this would be my first go with the air brush using a compressor, and two it was a flip paint already mixed and ready to rumble...... * Heres a word of warning for those of you with beards..... If you use a face mask they dont fit 100% to your face and you can still get extreemly high off the paint So i painted the car black first and then aded the flip paint on top, all went well. Then within 30 minutes of painting the flip i had to apply the clear coat (again this was pre mixed) I then realised that with an air brush the application is much finer and even than the standard areosol, so over the period of yesterday and today many coats of top coat have been added, including some coach lines and hopefully when it drys a "glass like finish" should be had.

The black was a matt black paint, the flip paint came out matt/satin but you have to apply the clear coat within 30mins of spraying it....

I found there to be more control over the amount of paint being applied. Also with there being less paint comming out creating that glass finish by laying is better. Also I dont get as many runs with the air brush

Last bit for tonight..... The top coat has dryed to a shiny surface, and there is only a couple bits of dust in it. Once polished they shouldnt be too noticable. And the silver lines down the sides and over the top are all ok too, I was expecting a little crinkling.... The engine has it primary volours and is just awaiting the detail like the etched filter and dizzy with leads. Interior is painted and just awaiting seat belts, and a tacho. Then there is the big brakes to fit behind those chrome 20" rims..... I carnt wait till tommorow.
