'Hey Lioner mate', they look great. Nice, this could be a Good Idea of joining Diorama pictures. I see you have used the grass matting, thats good stuff for Dioramas, I used varies flock from my Railway days for the base. Your Mustang looks the part. As you may note my picture Is oversize and was one of the first posted before knowing that this would be to large for the forum, so have resized it..

Thanks Foxy. I like using the grass mat sheeting which is an easy (and quick) way to get fairly good impression of grass (perhaps a little too even like a well manicured lawn), the colour seemed a bit too bright green but that was toned down with light brown sprays. I bonded the sheet onto normal cardboard, which is very easy to 'press' indentations and wheel track lines into to give quite a good textured look to the surface, and bits of grass are easy to scrape away and painted in earth colours for patches of worn grass. On my next one I will probably try a bit more roughing up of the grass, see if I can achieve a more 'used' look.
Good idea to add photos of small (or large if we do any) dioramas to this thread and build up a little collection. I'm starting on a 1:48th Spitfire Mk IX next, and already have a set of RAF ground crew completed, may get a Tilly and one or two bits to make up a scene around the Spit.

My Diorama was made from an old picture frame and quarter inch board cut to fit, then added the same as you matt paper with flock bush's around the edges and flock mixs for the ground cover. For the Kits, the aircraft comes from out of the box with the figures supplied, the Gaz 67B I added some photo etching and bits for the bonnet clips. I cut out the picture from the side of the box and added a photo copy of the Pilot so I would have one each end this to finish off and show the right way round ;D.
Look forward to your next Diorama on an Air subject.

Ok, got the 1:48 Spitfire IX finished, and some RAF crew. I'll be on the look out for some vehicle and then make a base. Probably get a Tilly, would like a Bedford QLD tanker as produced by Acccurate Armour but they are a bit pricey at the moment.

Hi Lioner.
Excellent pictures lol.
Just one downside, the Truck(Tilly) with the Spit was never in those colours, ether Green or camoed with Black and such.
Was an Army utility truck.
'But what the heck', looks fantastic.

Hi, thanks again Foxy. I did wonder about the Tilly in RAF blue, but the kit gave that as an option, and it looked so good on the box I had to do it as such. Below is from the Tamiya website: 'It is a real pleasure to display the Medium Blue colored RAF car with RAF aircraft.'c/o www.tamiya.com/english/productsand the new Tamiya Mosquito and 'Tilly' set featured in http://www.modelaircraftmagazine.com: c/o www.modelaircraftmagazine.comAnyway, have you had a chance to make further progress with any dioramas? It'd be good to see any more you have. Cheers Rob.

I am busy on other types(Ships) at the moment. But your models are just great, with the Vehicles and Figures you have done a great job. You should be proud.

No problem Foxy, thanks. My other modelling love is ships. I'm currrently focused exclusively in 1:48th, but later this year or next year I intend going back to shipbuilding. I used to collect 1:700 (modern), but really want to move into 1:350 (generally around WWII).

A little civilian diorama set in the US in the 1940s. I noted the 1:48th Tamiya staff car had a civilian option, so after some research found that it is the Ford '42 model Super DeLuxe Fordor. There were far more of the similar '41 model produced and indeed 1941 was a bumper year for civilian car production, but there were a reasonable number of the '42 model produced for normal civilian use prior to all production being turned over to military use later in 1942, including this model for military staff cars. One of the colour options available for the Super Deluxe was 'Mayfair Maroon' with tan interior and the Super Deluxe had all the chrome or later st steel triming. Anyay, here's the result with a Piper Cub I completed last month. And the car on its own: Hope it's of interest, Rob.
