Wings and things Right it's time for the wings, this has to be the weakest part of the Airfix kit. There are some nice parts, but some obviously wrong or odd or just plain missing! First the good; the wheel wells are not bad at all, not quite deep enough, but good non the less, the Bullet fairing for the starter cartridge is nice, as is the compressor disk and guide vanes. The odd is; on the front of the cowling there should be 3 grills where the gas from the starter cartridge comes out, but there is only one(nice though it is) this will be OK for the B.57's but not the B(I)8 etc. it would have been better if these where included on the decal sheet. There should also be two big holes in the top of each cowl and a smaller one underneath. All so missing and a lot more puzzling is the landing light from under the left wing, and the speed brakes, they are on the top of the wings, but not on the underside as they should be. Airfix have modeled the wing flaps and flying surfaces separately, this should have been a good thing, but unfortunately it is not, now at this point I will hold my hands up and say the bad fit of the flying surfaces could have been down to me, but the lack of trim tabs is not, but this is essay to fix with a quick re-scribe. The flaps on the other hand, while a good idea are let down by another silly error, they have been molded with the flaps/wing split 50/50, where as there should be a portion of the upper wing attached to the flap leaving a slit cut out in upper wing, this is not another big problem, but another example of an unnecessary mistake. The detail on the flaps is OK but not fantastic. The fit of the wings to the fuselage is not too bad. The tail plains are totally devoid of detail, and need some adding, including the trim tabs again.

looks superb and oooh how I would like to see it in the flesh....
now waiting even more for a new kit in the real scale and having a reason to switch back to Canberras from the present Lufwaffe foray.
