Is it just the tube I'm using or is all Tamiya Putty derived from reinforced concrete? My usual 'putty of choice' is the good 'ole 'Fine Surface Pollyfilla' but the modern stuff seems to have no strength at all. When I fill in some panel lines with it, it comes right out again when I sand it down after setting, so I thought I'd try the Tamiya stuff. It doesn't go on that well, you can't smooth it as it sets so fast, but to sand down it takes quite a bit longer. However when it is set it's like Chobham Armour, you can't move it without the aid of machine tools or tactical nukes! The worse effect is that it's harder than Halfords Grey Primer which means I sand off all the surrounding paint before the putty even starts to be affected. The model I'm working on is now totally primer-less, two days after I first painted it, and my arms are falling off with the effort needed to sand down the darn Tamiya Putty! What putty do others use these days?

I swear by the Tamiya stuff, both the grey and the white fine surface stuff. For more structural stuff I use their Polyester two part stuff which makes the tube stuff look soft and fluffy.

I can't stand Tamiya putty. Depending on what I'm doing, the putties I use are:-
Squadron Green (or at least until the stocks run out 'cos its import has been banned).
Milliput Superfine White
Tippex (mainly to fill air bubbles in resin).
I have recently managed to get some AVES Apoxie Sculpt without running up the national debt which I'm experimenting with. So far I'm highly impressed.

As seamfiller I use Milli put fine. The other is Squadron green putty(fast drying), this is very good not only for aircraft but for Armour too. Never tried the Tamiya putty. Use polyfilla all the time for Dioramas etc, again never tried for seam filling.
