With my better half working for Lidl I got the Mini put aside from this offer. But I was wondering is the Bugatti a reworking of the original Airfix kit rebadged as a Revell kit? As I have one of these Airfix kits somewhere in my stash and it seems quite a rare kit. Each store only has a limited number of each kit allocated to them normally 6 of each kit. Also with the VAT change they are now £9-77

Hi Pat I believe the Airfix kit relates to the time when they were working with Heller and I don't think that there is any relationship between Airfix/Heller and Revell in terms of sharing. See this link ref the Revell kit: www.automotivehelper.com/topic71904.htmRich

Regarding Lidl and Bugattis kitted generally. You didn't mention a model number so here goes If it's a Type 35B in 1/32nd scale look no further than Airfix. Don't know it was ever issued under the Heller brand name in France when Humbrol owned both firms. If it is a Type 59 in 1/32nd scale it is the Matchbox Kit from many years ago. The Matchbox stuff was all bought out by Revell, so the Bugatti Type 59 may well have been remarketed under the Revell name. If it is a Type 35B in 1/24th scale then Monogram was the original manufacturer. The plot thickens as Revell and Monogram have combined and I know that Monogram kitted this car many, many years ago, so this could also now be sold under the Revell banner. There was also a Type 56 Coupe in 1/24th scale that was originally made by Heller but also sold under the Airfix banner. There was also a Type 41 Royale in 1/24th scale originally from Lindberg but has been remarketed under the Revell name more recently. Italaeri has also kitted the Type 41 Royale (2 versions of?) in 1/24th scale. In white metal there is a fully detailed Type 59 in 1/24th scale by South Eastern Finecast (Ex Wills) and a Type 35B kerbside model in 1/24th scale in their Auto Kits Range. Back to plastic and Bandai kitted a Type 41 Royale in 1/16th scale in the 1970s along with another Bugatti kit which model no I cannot remember in 1/20th scale. And of course the huge Type 56 coupe in 1/8th scale by Pocher. There are of course many 1/43rd scale kits, but if anyone knows of any other Bugatti kits larger than 1/43rd I would be interested to know about them.

My last post refers to older Bugattis before the EB110 became reality.
