I think it is due to the psyche of the armour men(i am one) our subject matter is dedicated to keeping a low profile, and blending in with the landscape, our personalities are very introverted, unlike the fly boys who are the exact opposite, very extroverted, towit they love showing off their flying machines zooming all over the place, and painting their machines in shiny colours and patterns, after all when did you last see a tank (or any other land fighting vehicle) painted bright yellow/blue etc?

I think Bovington has a bright yellow tank that they bring out for displays, but you do have a good point.
Cheers

I have to admit that the IPMS is predominantly an aircraft society - so much for my plan to subvert the society from within ;D Won't stop me from trying of course...

Someone was in the habit of driving a bright pink (I kid you not) Scimitar around London in the early 90s when I worked there.

i think some one should psycho analyse all modellers as there are a number of new personality traits that would be discovered

if we get forced to go cold turkey can we claim our human rights were infringed and get squillions in compo?

May I suggest that most sensible modellers are lurking in the Car, Truck and Motorcycle bit contemplating Wacky Racers - why, only the other day there was a request concerning the aerodynamics of German Halftracks. As one who builds things Swedish, the armour side is a bit limited for me due to a shortage of kits and and even greater shortage of scratchbuilding skills. Four Strv103s is enough, surely? And my Vespa-Viggen Wacky Racer may yet end up with tracks as a sort of Kettenkraftrad with wings. Or is it that the years of sniffing glue have taken their toll and the brain is addled? Sanguin

Sensible? ... ;D And my Vespa-Viggen Wacky Racer may yet end up with tracks as a sort of Kettenkraftrad with wings. Or is it that the years of sniffing glue have taken their toll and the brain is addled? Just remember ... there are spies everywhere ... Ivor Plan sees everything!

Every survey that IPMS(UK) has done, shows about 65% of modellers build aircraft. Yhat, if a reflection of the real world, shows why there are so few armour modellers, when the 35% remaining build everything else.
Still, just to throw a spanner in the works, I mainly build aircraft but have built two of Dragons 'new' Tiger I kits and really enjoyed the experience(s).
Just goes to show there are deviants out there............
