A nice looking web site Karlos. I 've been thinking (which is painful for me). That would be a good idea for a theme at SMW one year, would be the evolution of Armour from its earliest days up to the Modern Armour of today. (As I say it's only a thought).

That would be a good idea for a theme at SMW one year, would be the evolution of Armour from its earliest days up to the Modern Armour of today. (As I say it's only a thought). Sort of starting with leather then hoplites helmets and so on up to medieval chargers and then breastplates etc? Or, more specifically, mechanically powered armour? (as sketched by da Vinci......?) Or even more specifically internally combustioned enginy things? Now my brain hurts, too. Sanguin being Silly. Apologies.

Would you think it would be a good theme Sanguin? What do the rest of you think? Taking the 'History of Armour' to its broadest involves figures, horses, fleshy bits, metallic finishes and major scratchbuilding. Whereas I suspect that most of us are content with plastic, resin, the bits of brass that we don't lose and varying shades of green/brown/sand. Whereas confining it to powered by 'internal combustion engine' keeps it on home territory; and that is quite a large bit of terrain..... Sanguin

Ok the history of the armoured fighting vehicle from WW1 to the Present Day, it would be an impressive display.

Time, wife, garden and Wacky Racers permitting I will go for the begining and end of Swedish tanks for the display. That's Strv M21 (the 'imported or built from plans, you decide, German LKII from 1918ish) and Strv 122 (probably without the concealment of modelling mistakes so no Barracuda camo sheets), both in 1/35th. So who's next? Sanguin the Stupid.....

I somehow don't think I can contribute to an SMW exhibit. Not only a bit too far for a day out, but also I don't build to those standards.

I somehow don't think I can contribute to an SMW exhibit. Not only a bit too far for a day out, but also I don't build to those standards. First Nationals I attended (the joys of Stoneleigh) I left feeling useless as a modeller. I still am. But it's not a competition, it's a display of models. Most that you see are excellent, some are really good and many are as good (or as poor) as your own. Some years back I took great pleasure in a Ferrari (an old Heller kit, I believe) on a stand which obviously had a bodged exhaust system. A chat with its maker and he felt as happy as me - my model, still at home, had exactly the same problem and no matter how much skill, criminal violence, beer or bad language I let loose on it, the pipes didn't fit and never would. But it is a long way.... Sanguin
