Treated myself to the Trumpeter Sturmtiger at Yeovilton this weekend - overall it looks like a pretty good model - well detailed, and one that scales out pretty well according to the rather thin references I have.
The tracks are vinyl rather than plastic, but they are well detailed on both sides with one small problem. These are battle tracks and have a drive sprocket hole in each link which is moulded over on the kit tracks. Now it could be trimmed off so that the long upper run is opened up - bit fiddly but worth doing. I've tried looking through the stash for similar Tiger kits - the Revell has hard tracks, but they aren't as well detailed as the Trumpeter vinyl ones are. Unless you know if a good set of OOB hard plastic Tiger late production battle tracks that is... Also does anyone have any idea if modding the tracks invalidate the Trumpeter comp rules - assuming there will be another one of course - I know it won't pass muster as OOB for our IPMS rules.

Hmmm, Hi Treadhead. 'Well', I believe that the rules for Trumpeter comp is the same as IPMS one, being that the kit has to come as per the box it was supplied with, I have noticed that some on show at the IPMS this year had Bases and some with no Instructions on show, so maybe you will be able to get away with putting correct tracks on your model, maybe contact the manufacturer and they may have the correct answer. Was supposed to be at Yeovelton this weekend with the West Cornish scale assoc, but got ill at the last mo, and was unable to attend.' Darn'.

I missed Milton Keynes the week before as I was off work with a bad back, only had a few days to wait for a replacement fix Good point about Trumpeter - I just might try it on...
