Are we going to try for an Armour SIG display at Telford next year?
Thoughts?

hi Paul , I would like to try and sort one out , but there is the age old problem , Just who will man the stand for two days , I cannot be in three places at once , Armour TAS stand and Out of the Box . If you then add in Armour TAS , So are there any takers to man a stand , those willing cross the line and say so now . This would give me plenty of time to sort out the details of how much table space to ask for and manning rotas etc . cheers ian

Clearly it is far too soon to start talking about who can and who cant make it - I for one am intending to go and as such would be very willing to help out. Seeing as my only other commitment will be the Recce SIG (not a member of any club), I can at least devote 33% of my time to the stand (the 66% split between the Recce SIG and mooching around or helping out wherever).
My post was really a 'wet finger in the air' to gauge interest. So that questions like subjects, themes etc can be discussed - perhaps we could use this thread as a sounding board to see what people want to do - we can cross the 'manning' bridge nearer the time.
So come on Armour SIG ers - what are your thoughts?

Ian, 'Beyond the Box' will be OK, I'll sort that, there's enough to cope if needs be, sort the Armour Sig.

I have an idea for a theme if we need one. 15 Nov 08, as well as being day 1 of SMW 08 is also the 117th anniversary of Rommels birth, so how about a DAK theme?

Themes are murder to put together - I know 'cos I tried and ended up with the usual suspects on the table... Needs to be as broad based as possible, or else a centrepiece theme with two or three models on a different coloured cloth, and the rest of the display around it. Like I did with the Games Workshop armour a few years ago.

Good point, besides DAK is probably a limited subject and all that sand would be a bit monotonous - I have the Dragon Pz IV (1/35) which I intended to do in a DAK scheme anyway so I will make sure that it forms part of any display we decide to do - also saw a 1/6th model of the man himself - looks interesting and would be an impressive centre piece with examples of the eqpt from DAK around him as part of the main display - might be something I need to look at. Have it maybe to one side of the table.

I think it would certaily be worth doing - a small group of say 5 or 6 examples of DAK armour with the man in the middle - the rest of the table can be used for everything else - like the idea of mirror bases, I use them for aircraft but not armour - shall have a go.
