If you are around North Wales or on holiday, look up Porthmadog Models, an excellent and unusual range of kits for a smallish model shop and very friendly and helpful staff. I bet you will be pleasantly surprised!

Having stumbled (litterally) across said shop back in March, I can agree with you on your comments- model shops in Wales are a bit thin on the ground, so I was suprised to come across this one.
the 1/24 scale ME262 hanging from the ceiling looked quite impressive!

Not sure if you have been in recently but owners Mike and Sue are expanding on the kits and had some interesting stuff in, I do the occasional aircraft but there were some unusual ones there that caught my eye. Different Mike by the way!

Is this a new shop? Up to 3 yrs ago I used to vist Porthmadog regularly through work but never spotted it; or is it tucked away off the main streets?
It sounds like a visit to Porthmadog might be worthwhile.

It's been there about three years, it's on the side street where the post office is and woolworths was.
In recent months they have gone over from being figure based with some kits to having a good and varied range of kits, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the stock whatever your interest.

PORTHMADOG MODELS MOVED ON THE 18TH OCTOBER 2009 TO MUCH LARGER PREMISES OPPOSITE PREVIOUS SHOP BUT STILL IN BANK PLACE PORTHMADOG.
WE HAVE MORE ROOM TO BREATH AND MOVE ABOUT, SEATING, BETTER LIGHTING, DISPLAYS.
WE HAVE TRIED TO MAKE THE SHOP A REAL TREAT FOR THE MODELLER & SUFFERING SPOUSES. STILL VERY DOG FRIENDLY WITH WATER AND FOOD FOR POOCHES.
WE TRY AND HELP SO JUST ASK. WE ARE POSSIBLE THE LARGEST MODEL SHOP IN NORTH WALES NOW AND AIM TO BE THE BEST. WE ARE A REAL OLD FASHIONED MODEL SHOP, EVERYTHING IS CHOSEN BY US WITH REGULAR AND UNUSUAL MAKERS, FIGURES, ACCESSORIES, WARGAMING, WARHAMMER, ETC.
WHAT WE ARE NOT: RC, RESIN, TRAINS - SORRY ABOUT THAT !
