After emailing SC Johnson I got the following (and worrying) reply....
Whose up for joining me in raising a petition or registering our interest with Johnson?
In the meantime, I think a trip to the supermarket to pick up any remaining stock may be in order.

In the meantime, I think a trip to the supermarket to pick up any remaining stock may be in order. What we now need is a supplier of Acrylic varnish which is all that Klear is, need a bit of company searching for possibilities. have you got the addy for Johnsons and we can all give them a shout. Umm. Acrylic varnish? Not 100% sure but I think you might find Games workshops varnishes could fit this bill? Oh yes, there are plenty of acrylic varnishes out there: Tamiya, Vallejo, Testors, Humbrol, etc. But apart from the ease of use of Klear, there is the important question of economics.... A pot of 28ml pot of Humbrol acrylic varnish costs abot £2.99. A 500ml bottle of Klear costs around £2.40 (although I have seen one site selling it for £4.59!!! ). That means that the same quantity of Humbrol varnish will cost you £53.40!!! And regardless of brand, you'll get the same sort of costs - even with Xtracolor (Xtracrylix) you're still going to fork out something like £30 for the same quantity. To me this is a no-brainer. Klear has so many advantages, not least of which is affordability. And the story isn't much better for spray varnish. Probably the cheapest is Halfords and even that ends up being much more expensive than spraying Klear (even if you use propellant cans). No, the loss of Klear is not insurmountable, but it ain't arf going to hit the pocket.

A straight forward acrylic varnish replacement may not be the solution. Klear is easily brushed and has remarkable self levelling capabilities in this respect (varnishes can't level out as well). It's also used as an adhesive for brass parts It's great as a setting agent for silvering decals, or transfers if you prefer that word I don't know about anyone else's experience but I've found that it goes off after a few years, it tends to get thicker so stocking up may not be the answer either. First the credit crunch and now this, OMG what are we gonna do?! The world is doomed

Just for info.... ASDA currently have loads in at £2.28/bottle (their Rollback promo). I understand from ASDA that this price will probably be held until stocks finally go.

All
I think we should bombard SC Johnson's with requests to keep the product on the shelves. I have already started, and have posted an e mail to their head office imploring them to reconsider their decision, even suggesting they enter the modelling ,arket themselves by aiming the product at modellers specifically.
I think we need to unite, all have a cup of tea and draft a strongly worded e mail.
Who's with me bruvvers?

This comes up regularly. It came up 2 years ago. Same thing too - mails from SC Johnson etc. I still have 3 bottles I bought from Asda back then. Is seamfiller an Asda or Johnson shill?
