Hi Normally I do aircraft but for the last year or so I have been lured back to vehicles . (won't say when I last did armoured vehicles but I was probably sitting my highers!) I am currently working on a 1/72 conversion and need about 40 bolt heads/ nuts. From the very dim recesses of my memory I seem to recall that you could buy these. So question is can you purchase these items? If so can they be got in 1/72? From where? If not any suggestions? (presumably stretched sprue). Many thanks Tunnan

Hi Tunnan.
Do you want them to be cross head or plain bolts in 1/72nd.
I use Plastic rod of Various sizes, I know you can get bolt heads in 1/35th, but never heard of them in 1/72nd.
As a matter of interest, what do you want them for.
I then maybe able to help you, having done many armoured vehicles in that scale.

Sounds like you're looking for Grandt Line products. S.B.Models do them, and they must be in the Bolton area, since they say that they support Bolton IPMS. There's also a set of hexagonal punches, available fro Historex, though I get my sets (and other tools) from Squires of Bognor Regis. Edgar

One of our trucking suppliers, Kit Form Services does an etched fret of bolt heads. They are meant for 1/24 but I'm sure the smaller ones would be useful. www.kitformservices.com

Thanks for the replies guys. I am not allowed to post the photos I have to work from but if you google UDES19 you will see the vehicle. The front and rear of the turret are joined by 2 angles back to back and bolted. This is what I am after the bolts/ nuts for. I am planning on submitting an article to the magazine and have a fair bit of it written up, along with some construction photos . If I remember my structural engineering (and I do not do that much of it these days) the dimension across the flat is something like 3.4 the dia. So the bolts/ nuts are probably only 34mm or so. I am tempted to ignore them but I have already put a considerable amount of time and effort into this that I want to do it right. Sorry for the long post Ken

Sorry I should have added that 34mm in real size only equates to 1/2mm on the model, as I am sure you know.
I tried Hannants but without luck.
I will try the website noted above.
Many thanks

You could try the smallest of the Plastruct Fineline hex section range? Just slice off to your hearts desire, at least you wouldn't have to worry about losing them... ;D

Many thanks. I took your advice and Grandt bolts arrived yesterday.
Could not use them yesterday but hope to do some modelling this w/e.
Hope to finish the model for Perth.
