I am looking for info on the camera location(s) for the TBM-1P & TBM-1CP Avenger. I want to build one of the planes assigned to VT-19 in 1944. All the internet sites seemed to have copied the same info. All they say is that the TBM-1CP (and TBF-1CP) had a tri-met camera array installed. They also say the TBM-1P (and TBF-1P) had a camera installed in the bomb bay. As a minimum, I would like info on the size & location of the camera ports. TIA Larry Engesath

Larry,
Did you get my e-mail regarding IPMS USA sent on 5/3/09 ?
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, as promised I've had a good trawl through all my books and references but cannot find anything on a TBM-1P. I,ve even got hold of a copy of the Squadron Pubs Walkround of The TBM Avenger thinking that there was bound to be some info on that type in there but there is not a single mention of it at all.
Your question though has got me intrigued enough to have bought a Italeri/Accurate minitures 1/48 TBM Avenger off e-Bay for myself as I thought it was time to build a nice model without having to hack it around to get a nice result. Funnily enough your search for info on a Photo Recce version of the Avenger has got my juices running! I want to build mine with the late/post war colour scheme of Sea Blue Gloss all over, did the TBM-1P that you are building have that colour scheme ? If so you wouldn't have any pictures would you that I could build one from? Sorry to sound a bit cheeky asking but one would look really nice on our table at Scale Model World this year. Especially as I have only built AEW Aircraft for the SIG so far a Photo Recce model would be nice for a change. You have my e-mail address , I would really appreciate it if you could help.
Ian

Ian, Sorry for the late reply, I just sent you an email, with what little info I have been able to unearth. I still have a lot more data to come up with, before I attempt to model the TBM-1CP Avanger. Larry
