Maybe a question for the Recce SIG, but do you rate this kit? is it a good likeness and would it be worth investing the money?

The Pegasus FR5 looks like a Swift FR5 OK, but needs work.
As is usual with Pagasus offerings there's a lot of tidying up and the gates need a hefty saw cutting to avoid damaging the parts you need. The panel lines are nicely done, nowhere Matchbox type trenches, but the question is how much IS the money?
To my mind the old Rareplanes FR5 actually has the look of the Swift slightly better, but if the Pegasus kit is available go for it so long as it doesn't need a World Bank loan.

Brightonrock.....
No idea, I made the Falcon 1/48 Vacform, and that needed enough work....
Had heard, the Pagasus was expensive and needed a surprisingly large amount of work doing to it. No idea how true this is.

I would go for the Magna kit every time. Very nice, might cost a bit more but how many do you want?!! Simon

36 US$ - ouch ! I've been trying to stay out of this thread because I've not completed my Swift project but I started with the Pegasus kit and think it would make a reasonable model with care but maybe more care than I can apply. I saw a finished Magna kit at a show (Poole ?) a few years back and the only problem was that although it was an FR.5 it had the early canopy and talking to the builder revealed that was what was in the kit. The canopy was also a weak part of the Pegasus kit which I planned to replace by buying a Rareplanes kit - also wondering whether I could blend the two kits for an easier build. However I was always outbid on fleabay for the Rareplanes kit and then I found a Czechmaster resin kit which looks good, with minor qualms about the seat being fixed to part of the interior. The kit is still available from Hannants www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=CMR1135 but sit down before you read the price. Hannants always seem expensive for Czechmaster but really ! Mine came from a trader at a Yeovilton show in 2006 (?) for around £15. For a "one stop shop" I would recommend the Czechmaster kit as the most accurate and easy to build BUT only if you can get it at a reasonable price and with the proviso I haven't started to build it.

Simon Actually Martyn Gomm of Magna did the kit precisely because he was so frustrated with the amount of work that had to be done to produce a decent model from the Pegasus kit. I beleive amongst other things the aerofoil section of the wings is upside down. Martin

The Pegasus kit is OK, but it bears a close resemblance to the Hawk/Testors kit of 1950s vintage (Re-released in the 90s) , and actually has a shorter Fmk4 nose (Compare with the Rareplanes one)
The nose on the Czechmasters kit is terrible - the apex is too high, and that throws both the upper and lower plan views right off. The rest of the kit is lovely.
Most accurate is probably the Rareplanes, but my ultimate intention is to put a Rareplanes nose on a CMR kit!!
....and then someone will release a new injection kit.......

What would be ideal is for a new injection release of both the Swift FR5 and the Scimitar,
Both sadly lacking in the available list
