Oh my... we used to chop them up and customise them years ago. Must have gone through over £500 worth by that price. It was fun back then...but not THAT much fun!

I had heard that during one of the take-overs that the company went through, some twit left the 1/32 car moulds outside, uncovered. Apparently when it was discovered, the moulds were beyond saving and got scrapped off. As Mr Allen would say, at least some of that is true! Steve.

Bejeezus! £97 for an old kit! I'd save up for a real one, they're just a much bigger plastic kit innit?

Back in 1969 I had a 1/1 scale one, in fact more than one! I worked at Pressed Steel Fisher in Oxford and we built one of the first seat belt anchorage test rigs in the UK. Reliant contracted PSF to test the Regal, Kitten and the prototype Bugs. We didn't have the entire cars, just the shells and chassis, enough to test the strength of the seat belt anchorages. The Bugs were only frames, with almost no body panels and we wondered what the devil it was going to look like. I made a 1/24 scale Competition Coupe dragster using the Airfix 1/32 scale Bug as a cockpit some time back in the 70s, and managed to win the Hot Rod Class at the Nationals that year.
