Yippee! Finally got some pics to post (Sorry Nick, truck will be ready soon!) I realised the main reason I wasn't getting anywhere very quickly was waiting for paint and glue to dry on my MAN truck so I thought I would start another model to run alongside! Got this at Huddersfield model show for a bargain £8 ;D I couldn't be bothered with the underneath that won't be seen so no engine or gearbox (probably go in a rod at some time) and the suspension etc is just painted black. The interior is also black (as with many, I'm a Bullitt fan!) with silver accents. All painted with Model Colour acrylics and various amounts of Johnsons Klear to give different sheens to the parts (carpet matt, dash a mid gloss, seats a bit more etc. Again, once built won't be seen much! The steering wheel is turned on purpose as I don't like front wheels pointing forward!! The body is being worked on now. As a Foose fan, it will be based on one of the 'Stangs off Overhaulin'

Hi,
Looks like you're off to a decent start on your Mustang. The different levels of black have given some realism to the interior. Looking forward to seeing some more build pics.
Cheers,

Looks like the Mustang is coming along nicely. Is that a recent moulding or a re-pop of one of AMT's old stinkers? It looks quite crisp, is the kit a good one?
Regards, Steve.

Sorry for no reply Steve, apparently it's the same as the Bullit 'Stang, I think a new mould? Goes together quite well, the glass for instance goes in fairly well, front and rear screens are separate. The kit includes stock engine and wheels too. The tyres on the wheels I used are almost literally rubber bands. The worst bit I found (as usual) is that the chrome wheels have the sprue attached at the face side rather than the rear!

So I finally finished what was supposed to be a quick build! I didn't want to use the kit striping so did a painted version. My first time using Tamiya acrylics and I must admit I had trouble getting it 'wet' enough. It tended to dry before it hit the plastic and looked a bit rough. Put a heavy coat of Tamiya clear on to get a reasonable gloss. The stripes were masked with Tamiya tape, another first for me and very impressive. Sprayed orange then I cut a flame mask from 5 thou' plasticard and used both positive and negatives with red and purple paints to paint the flames. The wheels were given a wash of very thin black oil paint to tone down the chrome and highlight the bolts. I was going to do the rest of the chrome but gave up for now. Not the best I've done but gave me another 'finished' model. Now, onto a longterm truck scratchbuild plus an Actros. I think this 2 at a time may get me building faster than my usual speed!

Love the flame effect Voyager. A generous coat of Klear will give a good shine as well.

thanks, I'll give the Klear a try. Only used it for sealing layers on the MAN so far ;D
