Who's the Daddy? Well, it's XH129! This is the Airfix PR.9 with the B(I)8 transparent nose and all the late mod's removed mainly things like the under wing chaff dispensers and the 2xNav's windows. Not the hardest conversion I've ever done, but there isn't a lot you can do to a PR.9 other than this and the SC.9.

very nice John -
you can be proud of that "daddy" !
Isn't finishing something special always a small anticlimax .......

John,
that finish is hellishly realistic from memory - what paint did you use, for future reference?

Hi Dennis It's good old Halfords Nisan Silver with a coat or two of Johnsons clear just to seal it all in

Thanks for that John, looks like a trip to Dundee tomorrow to stock up for my two "silver" PR9's.
For the 199 B.2 I'll use Xtracolour "Silber" from the Luftwaffe range as it seems to have built-in "fade".
Lovely model - I assume that it will be at Telford.

Hi Dennis
Thank you. Yes God, and Colin willing, it will be at Telford, are you coming this year? And are you taking your PR.9's and B.2? It's going to be quite a Canberra fest!

Oh Yes!!
I have no intention of missing Telford this year !!. Had hoped to get at least one finished for the Perth/Glasgow shows but have been up to my neck with business, family visits, research etc etc. plus I have had a bit of a modeling block on.
Will be bringing (be Positive DR!!) two PR.9's plus the 199Sqdn B.2 (WJ616) which will probably be in 18Sqdn markings (if that makes sense)
I'll also be bringing my ELINT 199 Sqdn Valiant based very roughly on the Mach 2 kit. The fuselage is progressing well and is jigged on a board in about 12 pieces not including the fin. Most of the fuselage bits fit on to the Vickers drawing I have but not all at the same time - hence the drastic surgery.!

John, Looking at '129 makes you wonder why they didn't make all PR9s like that. Obviously the Nav. had to use the side door to get in and crawl forward, but it looks much more practical than the later 'coal hole' arrangement, at least he can see where he's going! I'm sure someone knows EXACTLY why they did though.
