I have a Canon Pixma iP4200 printing on paper supplied by Crafty Computer and it seems as if the ink and paper are not compatible. I have tried an HP F380 and it is a lot better but not perfect. Has anyone else had this problem and can you recommend a solution? Is there a 'best' printer?

What do you mean by "it seems as if the ink and paper are not compatible"? Is the ink running on the page or what?
All i can say is i have a cheap epson stylus inkjet and use refilled cartridges and have no bother.

I'm using Crafty paper and a Canon as it happens. No probs here. You are spraying them to seal in after printing?

Apologies for not acknowledging your replies earlier. I have been away a few days and life has got in the way a bit since I got back. First the compatibility issue. The image 'curdles', almost as if there is a greasy surface and the ink is not absorbed. I did wonder if the paper not being fresh is the problem. I will try again with a new batch and report back. What settings do you use when printing? i.e. paper type With regard to the sealing yes I spray with an acylic, although I have got away with brushing decal film in the past.

Tried again with fresh paper but with same result. This was all very puzzling as I had made decals in the past without problems. Then I realised that I had been printing pictures from Photoshop but now I was attempting to produce a/c markings using Publisher and started wondering if resolution (dpi) might have something to do with the problem. I tried again with a photo and it came out beautifully so I saved the Publisher files as JPEGs, inceased the resolution and got a much better result. 300dpi seems to be a minimum. I hope others find this of interest John
