Some time ago someone made a resin transkit of body and wheels to convert the Revell Bugatti EB110 into the SS version. It's been out of production for ages as it was a limited run. Has anyone got one of these transkits that are surplus to requirements, or know of anyone who has?

Hi Noel, I'd be careful how much you spend on the Scale Design transkit if I were you. I've been working on one on and (mostly!) off for a couple of years now. Reason is that I get fed up of the amount of work needed to make a good model out of it but every time I have another look at it, I get fired up again!
Trouble is, basic shape's OK but a lot of the detail's "soft" and imprecise and some of the cut-away sections, eg at the rear of the car are very thick. Also, the cooling slots in the rear deck are solid and the intake holes behind the side windows are a bit rough.
If you don't mind this, then you'll be fine and the decals look very good with nice, vibrant colours and good definition. Metal bits are a mixed bag. Wheels initially looked good but weren't anything like circular which ain't too good a start for a wheel!! By the time you've added a Revell donor kit and found a decent set of round things it all starts to get a bit expensive. But like I say, every time I have a look, can't help doing a bit more to it........................................! Dave

Thanks for the info about your efforts with the EB110SS transkit Dave Sounds as though it's a bit of a pig and a poke! I think that the liklihood of me getting one of these kits now is almost zero, and from your comments, probably not worth the aggro anyway. What I was looking to do was build a road going version of the SS. Sounds like the transkit is for the LM version. Funny things transkits. From my own experience they are either very good or leave a lot to be desired. Also, you have to buy them when you can. A case in point is a number of years ago I saw a lovely 1/24 scale resin body for a Mk 2 Ford Zephyr on a trader's stand at the Nats, did'nt buy it and been kicking myself ever since. It was rumoured that the same guy was going to do a PA Cresta to follow the Zephyr on, but it never happened! I'm glad I bought their MG Metro 6R4 resin kit when MRM were in existence!

From memory, Profil's 6R4's a whole lot better than the MRM kit. Can't comment about accuracy but it's not as "clunky" as the older kit. The Scale Designs Bug does represent the Le Mans car. To be honest it wouldn't be too much more difficult to convert the Revell kit and a whole lot cheaper! The racing interior wouldn't be much use and you'd need new wheels anyway. I've come to the conclusion that some of the Revell bits need grafting back on to the SD kit to make it a bit more convincing so I'm not sure how much of the resin kit'll be left when I'm done. Of course, SD started out with a Revell body!! Hey ho.................... Trouble is, if you bought every kit that took your fancy, especially in resin.............................you'd end up with as many unbuilt kits as me!

Your'e right there Fastcat Resins can become addictive (and wallet busting!). I must say that although I have it, I'm not terribly impressed with the MRM MG 6R4. In fact I also have an old Burago die cast Metro and am thinking of cross kitting bits from the MRM kit onto it. Both purport to be 1/24th scale but look nearer 1/20th. Not sure if the 6R4 had a chopped roofline or not. The MRM kit makes it look as thoough it has, whereas the Burago model is bog standard road going and this Metro Shape looks right.
