Finally finished my Matchbox RF-101B in 1.72 Scale. As used by 192nd TRS of the Nevada Air National Guard. Kit was really used to get spraying practice in with the new Iwata, built 99% OOB Gear up on the MB Stand. Paint is Lifecolour with Vallejho Matt varnish, Burner cans are citadel paints and the rear metal area Model master titanium. Only things not from the kit are the national insignia and the nose probe (as I broke the kit one!) Overall a fun build. Julien

Julien, interesting subject - nice build - but I think it was a felony to do something like this to such a beautiful airframe Rolf

Rolf,
was not a very succesfull aircraft allround. They only made 23 (22 were ex Canadian AF F-101's).
The USAF perceived a shortfall in Tactical recon assests which never really happened.
As with a lot of projects they overspent for basically 1 sqn of planes, plus they never worked properly and need a lot of mods in thier limited service.
I still think its strange to see a 2 seet Voodoo in camo!

Lovely job, Julien.
I once grafted the Matchbox camera pallet onto the Revell kit, but messed up the paint and never finished. Like you, I've switched to the Iwata and hope to mess up my paint less often now.
Your build inspires me to want to try the Hasegawa RF-101C in one of the one-off early Vietnam era camouflage schemes that retained the bid national insigniae.

I still think its strange to see a 2 seet Voodoo in camo! I saw one in European Lizard scheme once, but it was attemping to hide in the bays at Alconbury..... Rich

I still think its strange to see a 2 seet Voodoo in camo! Julien Julien - yes it really is - and as remarked its looking interesting, strange and somewhat ugly with this recce fit. BTW: many thanks for the Fujimi RF-86F kit relayed by Colin this past weekend ! Now I really have to go looking for a USAF livery ... Thanks again, good modelling Rolf
