I've just bought the June issue of 'Military In Scale', the reason, a superb build article of the KFS 1/24 Alvis Stalwart by Nick Shuttleworth. I've seen a couple of advertising shots of this kit, mastered by David Jane, and after reading the article, I'm in love with it and I want one. In preparation at the moment is another 1/24 kit, again mastered by David Jane, this time it's a Saracen. Has Howard Whitehead got it right with this gamble of military subjects in 1/24 scale, looking at the quality of the castings and the finished product, he certainly deserves to, let's hope the sales of the Stalwart prove him right, because if it sells, and the Saracen is a success, we may get the Bedford TM? ...

Nick
I too would love a Stalwart but I could not justify it right now when it is the Bedford MK I really want to get.
I already have the TM cab but was hoping to get advice from Steve C (BARV) on how to scratch the rest.
With the full MK Kit I would hope that it would be easy to compare with the MK when scratching.
If I win the Lotto in the meantime the Stalwart would get bought.

Yes, he will be sadly missed, his scratch building was outstanding.
As for the 1/24 scale, With 1/72,1/48 and 1/35th scales, not forgetting 1/16, in military hardware, this will be another scale to think about.
For single items this sounds very good, but if you wanted to incorporate into a diorama, then not so good.
I used Saracens in my day with the Ferret scout and stalwarts for supply, so a very interesting subject, especially the Saracan.
Only time will tell, lets hope its a success.
