Hi All Can anyone help me? I'm building a model of this Swedish C.47 it's a Dakota my dad flew in the RAF in Japan post war when it was KN547. What I'd like help with is the camouflage, I can see the obvious things like, dark gray, dark green top side, but I'm not sure about the under side, is it black? Silver? mix of both. dose the dark gray dark green rap around the fuselage? John

John, try this site: www.avrosys.nu/aircraft/Transport/indextransp.htScroll down to the C47 and have a look. I will come back with more info when I can track down my Flygplans book on transport aircraft-it's somewhere in the house! The colour scheme is ex Luftwaffe, slightly faded. The dayglo on the rudder is well faded, but the other areas of dayglo have been replaced with fresh paint. Revell issued a C47 kit in the same colour scheme a good few years ago. John

Sorry, john, that link I gave you above doesn't work. It is missing one letter! So, this should be complete: www.avrosys.nu/aircraft/Transport/indextransp.htmGo to page three of the C47 section to see a colour photo of your aircraft in a port side profile. The colours were standard German NATO for the 60s and 70s transport aircraft. Uppersides RAL6014 Gelboliv FS24064 and RAL7012 Basaltgrau FS526152 Undersides RAL7001 Silbergrau FS36375 The original German Fluorescent orange on the rudder and nose tip is very faded, almost yellow, whilst the other high vis markings are in fresh, vibrant fluorescent orange-red. The Revell kit in 1/72 is No.4357 Douglas C-47; it has what I recall as Italeri plastics in a box that offers one Luftwaffe and two Swedish options for markings. One of the Swedes is 79008, the camouflaged aircraft you want, and the other is 79003 in natural metal. I have a very tatty instruction sheet (the original was printed on really poor quality paper) which I will try to photocopy if you need it, but Colin in the Decals section (under Society Business on this site) may be able to help although neither markings nor the instructions are currently listed as available. If you really can't find any Revell markings, and they were pretty thick and inflexible as I remember, Colin may be able to get you some bits and pieces from his Swedish stock. If you need it I can give you the sizes of the roundels on the wings and fuselage and I can supply the white and yellow numerals (apart from the 79008 registration, I haven't got any numbers of the right size, style and colour, unfortunately) that you will need. Enjoy! Best wishes, John

Hi John
Thanks very much for the info, just what I was after. The only thing I need to know now is the demarcation of the camouflage on the fuselage, is it just very low down? or dose it go all the way around? I should have the right markings in my box, but thank you for the pointer to the decal bank.
John

Ooooops.....the second link doesn't. You can't copy and paste a translated link, it seems. So this is the original site: lae.blogg.se/2007/october/Scroll down to the C-47. Translating it from Swedish I leave to those more computer literate than I! A bemused and baffled John
