Hi this is a mini review of the new trumpeter Railway wagon or High Gondola , Kit no 01517 . It has over 250 parts in a light grey plastic , some of the parts are very tiny and care will be needed removing them , There is no flash but some minor ejector marks need careful filling in . The worst parts for this are the sections of rail. The kit is simplified in several parts esp the brakes , there are no air recievers for them . The side doors are plain steel unlike the Dragon version . Underframe is again simplified but since it cannot be seen you will get away with it. Over all for the price I would have expected the figures shown on the box art to be included and at least 4 sets of alternative decals . Cost is a wopping £30. cheers ian

Hi all , my first heads up on this kit , These are my findings as I have built it so far . Page 5 , A12 and A1 build as per instructions , drill out holes on A7, A8-9 drill size 0.95mm . Ignure sections for hooks B16, 17, 18 B6 to B14 at this stage . B23 can be fitted to the wrong side of B24 check before glueing. A12 , A1 side frames only glue on B1 , B2 brake shoes to one side only . Page 6 Drill out holes in A11 , 1mm dia . Buffer section only make two sets of A6 ,C6 leave all other parts off at this time. Ignore Side rails C15 and B13 at this time . Glue one side frame with the brake shoes on to A11 and add C6 this will ensue it is square , then add the other A11 and last C6 . set aside for glue to dry. Add wheels and fit and glue other side frame the one without brakes this will square up the frame and stop top plate A11 from bowing. Lastly add the A5 and B1 ,B2 brakes this ensures the space between the flanges of the wheels and brakes are equal. set aside to dry out. build so far cheers ian

Hi all part two of Heads UP . Glue on theplanked sections A10 to A11 , then you can glue on C15 and B13 twice. Leave to set and then the final part is to add the C2's as per page 7 , I found that I needed to nip off the pins on at least 4 per side. You now have a flat bed without any external details , This allows it to be handled safely and any alterations can be made without damage to them . Reseach the type of wagon you want to build before commiting any scratchbuilding . cheers ian

Hi a furtherheads up will be posted soon , but in the mean while I have three original ref photos showing the types of load that could be carried in the Gondola . While they are not as per the kit but an other type they fall into the same weight loading. When I have resized them I will post them up for all to see . They are two types of Panther turrets, A machine gun mounting. And lastly a Machine gun mounting and home built hut . Cheers ian
