Hi I have been taking ScaleAuto by direct subscription from the US for a number of years. They have now organised the European delivery to coincide with those in the US so they are pretty good. The recent editions have been really interesting too.
In terms of UK publications, there are none as far as I am aware. Scale Models International was the closest, but they have switched to military only. According to the editor when I challenged them on this, he said that military was was the market is..? As far as I know the only UK publication dealing with non military modelling is Truck Model World?
There are some good French publications, but I'm not sure how easy they would be to get over hear, and of course they're in French.

I can't see a publishing house trying to market a dedicated car modelling magazine again. The market simply isn't there, look around any model show to see that. I really don't want to appear negative (I model other subjects myself) but the majority of modelling going on in this country is military based. I think we should concentrate efforts on sharing our work on-line. Hints, tips, reviews, there is a wealth of good stuff to be found on the net. I try to put some content on when I can, not just pictures but a bit of opinion on the product as well.
Steve.

The Tamiya magazine does some vehicle articles but quite basic as in 'from the box'. As has been said, the internet is a good substitute, or at least could be if we learn to photograph our progress (to a reasonable standard) and write helpful hints and techniques, just as they would be in a magazine

It would be nice to see a dedicated UK car modelling magazine on the racks in WHS again. I have seen some come and go over the years. Miniature Auto and Auto Modeller to name a couple. There are I believe one or two limited circulation magazines such as Four Small Wheels that seem to be aimed at 1/43rd scale modellers in general and linked to a manufacturer or sales organisation. The Yanks have great support for Auto Modelling so it sustains dedicated magazines from over the pond. Unfortunately the UK suffers in this respect as we do not seem to be able to sustain circulation figures that would be viable. A pity, but there it is!

Hi Noel Is 4 Small Wheels still produced? I let my subscription slip a number of years ago and I thought I saw on GPM's website somewhere that it had stopped?

Hi,
Scale Auto is excellent - I have been subsribing for years. Model Cars Magazine is also good - I know a guy here in Wolverhampton who gets it by subscription. Have a look at their website, they usually have an online digital version to look at.
A recent issue of Max Modeller has a nice build of a Ferrari by Alex Kustov.
As said above communication by the internet gives us a virtual model car club - lets get more car posts on here; I know there's quite a few car builders in the IPMS (and SMW has been getting better over the last few years for car models to look at, both on club stands and the competition)!
Cheers,

I get Scale auto via sybsreiption for 6 years now..and find it a very good mag. the only issue I have is the absence of wrc/LM/ euro / jap touring stuff that is an intregal part of the hobby car purchases here.
I too bought the UK publishes Mag Scale auto Modeler..and found it excellent..and easy to relate to.. with regards to the affore mentioned topic's
the Scale models mmag produced from the same stable it's enough for the car modeler.. but does intraduce the car modeler to other approaches to scale issues.
thanks
