BRM anniversary at Bourne.

Thought you may like to see these pics I took on Sunday. Bourne Motor Racing Club hold an annual classic car show, as you might imagine, it is only right that they should have some ERA/BRM related cars exhibited.
This year, to celebrate 50 years since BRM's first grand prix victory, there was a nice collection of cars and the bonus of the team transporter!
The memorial to Raymond Mays gives a brief history of the racing teams of ERA and BRM. The heritage day mentioned at the bottom was superb, they ran the cars around the town after closing the roads off for the day. I spent the day with a friend of mine, sitting in his front garden, his house was on the route the cars took!

Looks like a great day out. The Donington Collection has a hall dedicated to the same subject at the moment so I can assume a number of these machines were on loan for the day.

You can't beat seeing them run though, especially in anger.

Quite correct Rich, most of the cars were on loan from the Donnington collection. Seeing them run through the streets of Bourne was great although they were only running slowly. Looking at the memorial again, I was shocked at the realisation that it was ten years ago. I do try to get to some VSSC meetings through the year, especially at Silverstone. Like you say, seeing these cars run in anger is awesome. it's also very nice to be able to wander through the pit garages and speak to the owners and the people they get to drive them (the ones that don't drive themselves)
Must try and get to a meeting this year as I haven't managed to get anywhere yet!
