I recently went to my local Asda and asked at the film processing counter if they had any old 35mm canisters. The young girl reached under the counter and pulled a carrier bag with about 30 in. She told me that they normally bin the canisters after a while unless someone asks for them in which case they will hand them over.
Use mine to store ground chalk of various colours and ground pencil lead. Also secure enough to retain fluids for prolonged periods.
Thought you might be interested.

Hi Paul is that the plastic ones with the Grey top and you can see through, if so there great also for holding paint that you have mixed for spraying, I seem to have a lot of them around at the mo. One of our club members brought in a boxful and I must have around a 100 or more, very useful. These are all plastic and not the aluminum type. Nice tip, 'why did I not think of that lol' ;D
