Just happened to spot this resin bodyshell on Ebay and snap it up and with Richard talking about a 50th Anniversary Mini display at Telford I thought I would make a start on it and see if I can get it ready in time. But I want to put as much detail into it as possible so not going to rush it. Well here's the bodyshell: Not that easy to see in the picture are there are more holes in it than an aero chocolate bar so lots of work to do: And this is the chassis that came with the body top is not to bad but the underside is terrible so going to use the chassis out of the donor kit: The donor chassis has got to be lengthened so I will take a good bit of the resin chassis to lengthen the donor chassis: And this is the donor Tamiya's Morris Mini Cooper: So this is the progress so far, cut of the arches on the donor chassis: And got the bonnet to fit: I have started on the engine and cleaning up the bodyshell but ran out of time to do anymore, roll on next weekend when I can do some more although I will take a few bits to clean up whilst in Liverpool.

Hi Spike, looking good, it will fit along side your others a treat. I believe the Clubman than Steve is looking at is from the same stable?

Look forward to seeing it built Spike. Seeing a Mini Pickup brings back some memories. The company I worked for had one that I used to drive quite a bit. Just a plain grey one with no signwriting. When I started to work in this area I was away from home each week. I borrowed it to go and see my house being built at the time. I have a resin Riley Elf awaiting to be built, and that casting looks pretty good. Has anyone done a resin Mini Van? Many years ago I used to work for a company named Read And Campbell and worked as a fire equipment service engineer. I would really like to build a model of my old van. Or even modify a diecast if anyone does one. Someone mentioned to me a long time ago that there was a 1/18 scale diecast.

Rich, yes I believe this one will be from the same stable as the Clubman as I have seen that one as well but went for the pickup.
And Noel, I dont know of any mini van kits or bodyshells but I would love one if they are about. I would think we alot of scratch building it would be possible to make the pick up into a van. Lets hope that the people who have done this pick up and the clubman will do the van as well, please please please ;D

I have just got in from work. After dinner I'll take some pics of the clubman resin conversion (it is from the same ebay seller).
Steve.

Ayup Gents, sorry about the poor quality of the pics, in a bit of a rush. The body shell is quite clean but as may be expected the wheels, arches and grille will require a lot of clean up. No front bumper is provided but could be scratch built. The kit supplied rear bumper could be used but is not actually correct as the Clubman bumper had a slightly different profile. Fujimi Mini is recommended donor kit. (I have several!) If the extended arch kit is used, the wheels will have to be spaced quite a bit, I think I may go for this look! Not sure of colour yet but pretty sure I am going to go for wide track and bumperless. I am going to ry to do the original 1275 GT side stripes along the lower flanks as well, just need to find some letters in the correct font. I may have some of these in my stash. Let's see how it comes together. Cheers, Steve. Current projects: Ferrari 330 P4 as a road car. Pearl Blue, Gold wheels Porsche 911 GT1 'Blue Coral' Mini Clubman 1275GT 'pocket rocket'

Nice choice of subject Spike. I remember the Mini pickup from my first days at Halfords in Liverpool, one of them was used as a runabout travelling from Birmingham and visiting all the branches north on a weekly basis. I had several friends who had a Clubman, ah memories.

Hey Steve I've got a Blue Coral GT1 in the stash, body is painted. I contacted G-Force when the UMI decals when first issued and according to them:
"The blue colour is Renault Island Blue 447" with natural carbon black along the bottom of the doors. Black paint was used to hide the in season battle damage.
From memory (and it was a VERY long time ago) I had Halfords match the paint and they missed by a mile. There may even have been two 447's?
