It occurs to me I have omitted to post this beauty here. I've taken ages to get this far but I finally got some clear on this last week. After a couple of evenings cutting back and polishing I felt it was time to Chrome her up. I added the chrome around the glazings with Alclad II Chrome and use a Model Car Garage etch set for all the badges. To add depth to the badges a light wash with either red or black oils was used. I'm back on the chassis now and hope to have her done for Automodellismo in August. H

Hi,
That vette body looks sharp - what paint did you use?
I hope to get to Automodellismo so I am looking forward to seeing the finished article.
I have a top fuel dragster - do you know if I will be able to display it or put it in a competition at the show?
Cheers,

All paints and clears are Zero Paints www.hiroboy.comThe model will be at Automodellismo come hell or high water. If you want to display you'll need to be a member of a registered exhibiting group as there is no space left now. Contact PT Cruiser for mebership of the Car and Motorcycle sig or Myself if F1 and Motorsport is more your thing. Competition will be judged from the models on display. THC

Hi Dingo I'm not sure what to recommend to you as you're far removed physically from my supplier but I suggest you look at www.hiroboy.com for paints and supplies. I know Steve does ship overseas so it may be worth a shot. Any ways the key to a good Gloss finish remains preparation. I use a high quality sprayed primer designed for Airbrush application but if you've no Airbrush then you should start with a suitable rattlecan primer grey. Not cheap stuff as that is a false economy. Apply in thin dusted coats (four or five is normally enough) and then sand back with Micro Mesh. Apply your chosen colour in a similar manner if it is a gloss rattle can then a final 'wet' coat is essential. Again cut back with Micro Mesh then polish with compounds and a good quality car polish. Any more questions fire away. H

Thanks for those tips Hooded Claw I do most of them but as I use rttle cans most of the time I warm the can befoe spraying so it comes out better and give a more even coating. I'd love to bu a airbrush but as a retired person here in Oz they are a bit on the expensive side. Dingo

Managed to get an evening or two free over the week between bouts of show organising. Finally got the interior painted and inplace. The Chassis popped into place not helped initially by my fixing the top front suspension mounts back to front. I've got a couple of bits left to add, notably the rear bumpers and the steering wheel. After that it will get a final dust and put away for the show. Hope you like it. THC
